It means that Pastel cannot connect to its database server: PervasiveSQL. Ensure that Pervasive is running and if you are on a network also make sure that you can connect to your server. Conflicting files from different versions of Pervasive or no valid Pervasive licenses could also prevent Pastel from connecting to Pervasive. Make sure that no firewall is blocking "database service manager" or port 1433. If Pastel is being used on a network make sure that the server is logged on and that Pervasive is running.

Make a backup to your hard drive first (make it in a folder with that days date as its name) and then write the backup folder to an optical disc.
Open you printers and faxes folder. Go to server properties (under the file menu) and check 'create new form'. Give the form a name, fill in its size (usually 21.6cm x 21.6cm) and click the save form button. Go to the advanced tab and click on the printing defaults button. Follow the same procedure as before. Then go to the device settings tab (some printers don't have this) and set the correct paper size.
